Police brutality impacts Chicago in a big way because in chicago there is violence and there is illegal activities happening everywhere in the city. As said in the (Peoples Law Office) in 1988 3 officers beat ,burned, and electroshocked a man for killing 2 officers. The courts of chicago went to the bottom of this crime because they knew that it wasn't right to torture a man for committing a crime. The officers soon got convicted for police brutality and went to jail. This is a case that I like because the government didn't just sit back and watched the criminals get away with there crimes and they were put in trial just like any other regular person.
What it means to think globally and act locally is to always keep in mind the stableness and health of the world but take action in your community or city.
Chicago activists are working on showing everyone the issues of police power by having youth groups that helps them how to not break the law and teaching them how not to be corrupt and make bad decisions.
National context is different to local context because in national the news has bigger stories on police brutality and it is easier to address a bigger amount of crowd. Also in local context the issues are not acknowledged and sometimes police officers don't let their crimes be shown to the public. The similarities of national and local context are that they are both not being addressed how they should be and some of their cases are being ignored by our government.
To address the concerns of police power there are programs such as the chicago police and firefighter academy. The CPFTA is a program where it allows the juveniles prepare them to make the right decisions. There is also a program called D.A.R.E that helps kids if they need guidance with life and what it takes to be a good cop.
