Police bruality impacts the united states in many negative ways. One is that the officers are showing our future leaders that it is ok to break the law just because you are the law.It also makes the streets of the united states seem corrupt and it is hurting all the people in it.
Police brutality has been in issue in the United States since slavery but it was never pointed out.As said in the reading of racism online Los angeles witnessed police brutality because the city went crazy when the government didnt care that a officer beat a civilian for no reason(Chambers,1995).During the 50’s Los Angeles was witnessing riots because of the causes by officers. The officers killed 5 people,40 fires were caused ,and 50 non-rioting citizens were injured. To stop this police brutality the country needs to find new ways to devise questions of race, crime, and leadership.
In New Mexico police brutality is seemed to be happening due to the death of a homeless man being shot and killed. In the article of (Stop Police Brutality,2008) states that officers shot a homeless man for an argument of illegal camping. The man was waken up by the officers and they argued about leaving and when the man agreed to move the officers let of shots and shot him. The killing was called as justified because the man didn't listen to what the officers were telling him. This was not a right kill because the man was only sleeping and wasn't hurting no one or had the intentions of hurting anyone.
In Georgia police brutality is also a problem due to a problem with 2 officers and a young boy. In the website (Stop Police Brutality,2008) it reads that Omari Grant a 11 year old boy was harassed by 2 officers while playing in the woods with his friends. The children say they were building a tree fort when the officers arrived they pointed a gun at them and made them lay on the floor with their feet spread. This is an exaggeration to me because the kids were not doing nothing bad at all and the police labeled them as bad based on their color of skin.
The activists of Los Angeles,New Mexico, and Georgia are making their issue known around the country by putting the stories out there about the people that are hurting us. They are first asking for the opinion of people on how they feel towards abusive police officers.
National context of police power is similar to global context because the brutality of the officers is the same but in different circumstances.I feel as if global is more cruel than national. The difference is that i national it is not seen as a normal thing and in global other countries handle police abuse in other ways.
